Pluto was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in the mid-19th century. However, for a long time before, there was though to be another planet beyond Neptune, and it was possible that there was a Planet X. However, Clyde used images from the Hubble Telescope because it is almost impossible for a human to reach Pluto. There was a drone sent to Pluto in 2006, and it's supposed to reach Pluto in 2015. The moons were discovered by different people, but it was through the use of the Hubble Telescope. There are 3 moons; their names are Charon, Nix, and Hydra. Charon is more than half the size of Pluto. In 2011, a new moon was discovered, and is referred to as P4. It is very small.
Pluto was a discovery that made people very excited, because it proved that it could be possible that there are other planets out there and those planets could hold life. Since Pluto is so far from the sun, it is freezing cold. A warm day on Pluto is about -275 degrees. It is almost impossible for humans to reach Pluto. Even if we did have the technology to reach Pluto, it takes about 10 years to reach there, so by then, you would run out of food and fuel. And actually getting there... good luck surviving.
